FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions

about The Centers

FAQ

Q: Why did you change your name?

A: In 2011, Center for Families and Children (CFC), West Side Ecumenical Ministry (WSEM) and El Barrio joined together as one organization to strengthen our impact in our community. As we began working together and learning from each other, a unified organization began to take form. And with one organization, needs to come one name. We are now The Centers for Families and Children, or The Centers for short. The Centers represents our unity and the coming together of three well-respected organizations with a rich history of service in our community.

Q: How large is The Centers?

A:  With 18 locations across the Greater Cleveland area, we serve 23,000 clients annually through our different services.

Q: Can I still receive all of the same services, such as behavioral health and early learning, as I did before the merger?

A: Absolutely. At The Centers, we work to bridge the opportunity gap by connecting as many people as possible to effective health care, education and essential human services. With core services in early learning, health & wellness, workforce development, and youth and family services, we strive to connect our clients to the right opportunities, relationships, resources and networks that can help them build a better future. If you have worked with CFC, WSEM or El Barrio before, you can access the same services through The Centers.

Q: How can I become involved with The Centers?

A: We are constantly looking for passionate people to help us help others. If you would like to talk to someone about volunteering, making a financial donation or joining our team, please call 216-325-9236 today!

Q: What types of volunteer opportunities are there for me to get involved with at The Centers?

A: We have a variety of opportunities to fit the needs of those wanting to get involved. Whether it is reading to our children at one of our early learning centers or preparing clients for upcoming job interviews at our workforce development center, we know we can connect you to the right volunteer opportunity that will help you make a difference in our community. Call 216-651-2037, ext. 239 to learn more.
